Welcome to this week’s Tip Thursday. Today’s tip has to do with hydration. Drinking plenty of water does more than just quench your thirst. The majority of our bodies are made up of water. It has numerous health benefits.

Drinking water

  • Flushes the toxins out of our systems.
  • It aids with weight loss.
  • It makes our skin and hair look and feel better.
  • It impacts our performance of physical activities.
  • Helps with mental clarity and more.

The amount of water we should drink, varies depending on the person. Everyone, at a minimum, should aim to drink half their body weight in ounces. For example, if someone weighs 120lbs, they should drink 60oz of water. So, what if you don’t like plain water? Here are some tips to jazz up it up.

  • Infuse the water with fruit, veggies or herbs. Water with cucumber and mint, is delicious.
  • Try herbal tea. As long as the tea is decaffeinated, count it toward your water goal. I am a huge fan of David’s Tea.
  • Seltzer Water. This is all I drink (besides coffee and Shakeology). Just make sure it has zero artificial flavors and sodium.
  • Add something like Nuun to your water bottle. Nuun comes in yummy flavors and jazzes up plain water. I actually take one tablet of Nunn Immunity in the morning for about a week prior to travel. No one wants to be sick on their vacation.

So there you have it, 4 ways to turn plain water into something you look forward to each day.

Yay!! It is amazing what it does for us.

We use crystal light a lot and tea in our house.

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

Another way you can get the water in and stay hydrated.

This post is one of the best because I do not like regular water! I’m always looking for something to help with that and can’t wait to try!

Great tips, I drink a ton of water every day and spa water is one of my favorites with strawberry, lemon, and basil! So good, thanks for giving me some more ideas 🙂

So I can’t count my Diet Dr. Pepper? Just kidding. I do drink more when I flavor the water. I try to do that. Otherwise, I just let the water sit and forget it’s there. These are great tips for flavoring!

I love water too. I also love adding lemon to it. Thanks for the info!

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

I always get a lemon or lime when out.

I love water, to begin with, but I love even more infused water! Thanks for the idea about adding Nunn. Improving health at the same time 😉

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

I love Nuun. It makes a difference in my workouts.

  8. Angela | 17th Jun 19

Thx for the reminder! Drink up

I’m such a water drinker and have been for several decades — I can ALWAYS tell the difference when I haven’t had enough.

And on a side-note, isn’t Nuun delicious??? I love this product, too!

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

Yes, I have a Nuun at least once a day.

I love water, too! And it’s all I drink. I was in Orlando over the weekend, and I made such a big mistake. I visited the biggest McDonald’s in the world. I ordered a sweet tea. Never had one before. I was thirsty all day. I went through drive thru and ordered another one! I’ll never do that again! Thanks for the info!!

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

Ohhh sweet tea can be dangerous! It is really good. LOL.

I actually love water so it’s easy peasy for me. Getting my boys to drink is another thing. 🙂

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

Yes, it is all I offer, besides milk in our house. However, the oldest has a job and buys what he wants at break time.

This is a great reminder! I didn’t always like to drink water, but now I drink it almost exclusively – and I drink more than my body weight. Wasn’t always easy to get up to that amount, but with the right water bottle and remembering to keep it with me all the time, it’s now become second nature.

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

Great! I also drink more than have my body weight. I have found a sweet spot between 120 and 150 ounces.

  13. Joanne | 17th Jun 19

I really need to start drinking more…water that is:)

Love these ideas! I aim for 1 gallon of water a day and these are awesome tips! My usual go to is a fresh lemon!

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

Yes, along with some mint is delicious!

  16. Ramae Hamrin | 17th Jun 19

These are great ideas, and it’s so, so important to stay properly hydrated. When I went through my stem cell transplant, I bought some Nuun tablets to improve the taste of water, and they were surpisingly good!

  17. Nicole Cruze | 17th Jun 19

So true, water always makes me feel so much better!

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

Yes, I feel terrible when I do not get enough.

  18. Leigh Ann | 17th Jun 19

Great tips! I drink a gallon of water a day and sometimes I do get tired of just plain water, although mostly that’s how I drink it. I enjoy an occasional seltzer water however. Also like adding lemon or lime to my water.

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

Yes, you need to jazz it up!

  19. Tricia Snow | 17th Jun 19

I am not a water fan. I use lemon and limes and I LOVE Club Soda!

    • Heather | 27th Jun 19

      Club soda is good too!

  20. Chris | 17th Jun 19

Keeping properly hydrated is always a challenge for me. I love the ideas here. Great post!

  21. Pauline Reynolds | 17th Jun 19

Yummy. I live infused water. I usually add lemon and mint to mine.

    • Heather | 24th Jun 19

Love adding mint to my water.

  22. Karla | 17th Jun 19

This is great. I work SO hard with my kids to keep drinking. All of them, without exception, had exclusively soda or juice when they came to me. Very little milk and no water. One kid in particular totally stepped up when I told him it made the water taste better and sweeter if we added ice cubes. He agreed! To this day, all I need to do is keep ice in the freezer and he drinks water like crazy. He convinces his siblings to do so, too. 🙂

I love water!!! I lost lymph nodes in a surgery, and so a high amount of water is necessary. But, in every other way, I feel so much better when I am drinking the right amount of water. Great tips on jazzing it up!

  24. Kendra Kaiser | 18th Jun 19

Great suggestions. I love water but know so many who don’t.

  25. Emily | 18th Jun 19

Nuun….never heard of it! Sounds yummy!

    • Heather | 24th Jun 19

It is. It comes in all different flavors. I love it.

  26. Lina | 18th Jun 19

I love water now. I didn’t use to though. Great reminder on what to put in your water to jazz it up.

  27. katie | 18th Jun 19

Oh! I’ll have to try the nuun- I’ve never heard of that! Thanks!

    • Heather | 24th Jun 19

It is really good. I love it.
